We’re thrilled to announce that Atomic Lab has received a new NIH-funded grant through the Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Response (CEIRR) – an international research network created by NIAID to study influenza and combat outbreaks. This project, led by Adriana Tomic in collaboration with Adolfo García-Sastre, is supported by the Center for Research on Influenza Pathogenesis and Transmission (CRIPT) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
Our two-year project, titled “Unraveling the Determinants of Cross-Protective T Cell Immunity Against Influenza using a Multi-Omics Approach,” will focus on understanding how certain T cell populations can provide broad protection against diverse influenza strains.
We’re excited to expand on our long-standing collaboration with the García-Sastre lab, known for their leading work in influenza virology. Our multi-omics strategy will dive deeper into memory T cell subsets, innate immune signaling, and other factors that shape robust, long-lasting immunity. Ultimately, we hope to advance the field toward developing more effective, possibly universal, influenza vaccines.
We extend our gratitude to NIH for recognizing the potential of this research and to everyone at CRIPT who helped make this award possible. Stay tuned for more updates as we explore the intricacies of T cell cross-reactivity—and bring our vision of better influenza prevention one step closer to reality!
